Papier-mâché, acrylic, wire, PIR sensor, microcontroller, speaker
28 x 14 x 12 in. (71.1 x 35.6 x 30.5 cm)

This is an interactive robot dog that says “I love you” whenever someone walks past him. The dog is created with papier-mâché on a wire armature. He is the size, coloring, and shape of a seal grey Italian Greyhound. The pup’s nose contains a PIR sensor that is connected to an Arduino microcontroller installed in the body cavity along with a small amp and speaker. When one walks past the dog, the sensor triggers an audio file to play. The sound is a recording of me barking, in my most plaintive dog impersonation, “Ri Ruff Roo” (“I Love You”). This project was completed with technical assistance by Zack Fruntz.
